Muscular fender flares front and back, high-tech forged wheels with a diameter of 23 inches, a striking front with large air inlets and a 5.5-liter Biturbo V8 engine producing 456.3 kW / 620 hp (611 bhp) of power: the BRABUS B63 - 620 WIDESTAR based on the new Mercedes GL 63 AMG celebrates its world debut at the 2013 Geneva Motor Show on the BRABUS stand.

The BRABUS WIDESTAR body conversion for the new GL-Class is characterized by the striking fender flares front and back that add eight centimeters (3.1 in.) to the width of the grand SUV.

The large air inlets of the BRABUS WIDESTAR front element give it an even more bullish appearance and optimize the supply of fresh air for radiators and front brakes. Its sophisticated shape reduces lift on the front axle at high speeds and thus optimizes directional stability.

From the rear, the wide-body version is even more striking thanks to the roof spoiler and the rear element made by BRABUS. The thrilling BRABUS appearance includes a diffuser integrated into the fascia and the precise-fit cutouts for the distinctive ceramics-coated tailpipes of the BRABUS stainless-steel sport exhaust system with butterfly valve.

All BRABUS bodywork components are manufactured in OEM quality from high-grade PUR plastics to ensure optimal fit and perfect paintability.

The BRABUS WIDESTAR wide-body version also creates space for extreme-sized tires. The large wheel wells of the GL-Class offer just enough space for 23-inch high-tech forged wheels. The BRABUS "Platinum Edition" 11Jx23 alloys are available in three popular designs: Monoblock E evo, F and R. State-of-the-art forging technology makes the "Platinum Edition" wheels particularly light despite offering outstanding strength and stress resistance. Compared with a conventional cast wheel of identical size, these alloys represent weight savings up to 15 percent. All BRABUS forged wheels can be identified immediately by the stainless-steel "Platinum Edition" emblem.

The suitable high-performance street tires in size 305/30 R 23 are supplied by BRABUS technology partners Continental, Pirelli and YOKOHAMA.

The new Mercedes GL-Class can alternatively be equipped with 21-inch forged Monoblock VI or F wheels, 22-inch Monoblock VI, E, Q and R cast wheels or BRABUS Monoblock G "PLATINUM EDITION" forged wheels.

The BRABUS control module for GL models with AIRMATIC air suspension is specifically calibrated to the sporty tire/wheel combination. It lowers the ride height of the vehicle by about 30 millimeters (1.2 inches).

To further enhance active safety, the SUV can be equipped with a BRABUS high-performance brake system. It consists of six-piston aluminum fixed calipers gripping vented and cross-drilled front discs measuring 405 x 34 millimeters (15.9 x 1.3 inches). The rear axle stops with discs measuring 380 x 34 mm (15.0 x 1.3 inches) and four-piston fixed calipers.

BRABUS offers the world’s most extensive engine tuning program for Mercedes-Benz automobiles, which obviously also benefits the new GL 63 AMG: the 5.5-liter V8 Biturbo engine receives an impressive power upgrade with the BRABUS B63 - 620 performance kit. This kit is already available for all other AMG 63 models powered by an eight-cylinder Biturbo engine.

The BRABUS B63 - 620 PowerXtra module is integrated into the engine electronics as a plug-and-play device. It features new mapping for injection and ignition and provides a moderate increase in boost pressure. Maximum power output jumps from standard 410 kW / 557 hp to 456.3 kW / 620 hp (549 bhp to 611 bhp) at a low 5,750 rpm. Simultaneously peak torque grows from 760 to 820 Nm (560 lb-ft to 604 lb-ft), steadily available on a plateau between 2,000 and 5,000 rpm. The high-tech lubricants for the entire powertrain are supplied by technology partner MOTUL.

The tuned SUV zooms to 100 km/h (62 mph) in just 4.7 seconds and reaches an electronically limited top speed of 280 km/h (174 mph).

The BRABUS stainless-steel sport exhaust system lends the all-wheel-drive vehicle an appealing rear appearance. At the push of a button on the steering wheel it also produces an especially exhilarating V8 exhaust note. The integrated butterfly valve lets the driver choose between a particularly quiet “coming home” and a sport mode. The latter produces a full-blooded V8 sound.

Exclusive interior options are another BRABUS specialty: for the new Mercedes GL 63 AMG BRABUS offers stainless-steel scuff plates with backlit BRABUS logo, exclusive BRABUS all-leather interiors crafted from a masterfully finished combination of the finest Mastik leather and Alcantara. The vehicle on display is a prime example for the precision craftsmanship applied by the BRABUS upholsterers: the interior design features a pattern of exact squares that all were sewn with utmost precision.

The BRABUS B63 - 620 WIDESTAR model on display at the 2013 Geneva Motor Show is furnished with especially exclusive yacht-design wood appointments, with feature countless miniature pieces dovetailed together like the deck of a ship.

The sporty character of the vehicle is rounded out by the speedometer with 320-km/h dial (200 mph) and aluminum components such as pedals, door pins and longer BRABUS aluminum shift paddles.
