We recently got our hands (via GermanCarForum) onto a list of trademarks that were officially registered by Daimler AG in the recent years up to 2012 at the European Trademark Office. Some of the names seem rather fictional and were probably filed 'just in case', but a good part of the remaining are likely previewing future new addition to the automotive portfolio of the Mercedes-Benz and smart, as well as state-of-the-art technologies that could be introduced in the forthcoming years.

Some of the titles posted above are already serial/prototype products or exist as entities, slogans and technologies under the Daimler AG umbrella, like:

- THE BEST OR NOTHING
- TECHNICITY
- MERCEDES AMG PETRONAS, MERCEDES GP PETRONAS
- MAGIC VISION CONTROL
- NANOSLIDE
- 125!
- S 250
- CLS 250, CLS 500
- OMNIPLUS
- EASY-VARIO
- THE AVANT/GARDE DIARIES
- TIREFIT
- ENERGY SPACE (the modular concept of the Mercedes Frontwheel Architecture platform launched with the new B-Class)
- ROADSENSE
- BLUEDIRECT
- 7G DCT
- GL 63, G 63
- SMART FORSPEED, SMART FOR-US
- MAP PILOT
- EM-MOTIVE

and the list could easily continue.

Stepping furthermore into the unknown, there are some trademarks which fuel our imagination and portray a possible future for the next generation of Mercedes-Benz and smart products:

- the X-CLASS and the versions X 200, X 250, X 300, X 350, X 400, X 450, X 550, X 600, X 63, X 65 announces the clear intention to launch an all new model series. We could be in for an executive crossover, sloted between the E- and S-Class, destined to replace the R-Class, but it could as well be a new bigger SUV placed above the GL-Class or a large 4-door coupe, based on the W 222 S-Class technical platform

- technologies such as the MAGIC RIDE CONTROL, MAGIC BODY CONTROL, BELTBAG and 9G-TRONIC will certainly be premiered together with the reveal of the new S-Class this summer; the first two monikers will manage the dynamics of the car, the second one is basically an airbag fitted on the seatbelt (teased on the ESF 2009 experimental safety prototype) and the latter is the all so expected 9-speed automatic gearbox

- the SL 450 and SL 400 titles hint at potential upcoming versions for the SL-Class, based on detuned variants of the 4.7-litre V8 twin-turbocharged BlueDIRECT engine with a peak output values ranging between 360 hp and 400 hp

- the SLA and SLB badges could whisper the intention of Mercedes-Benz to launch several niche variants under the A-Class/B-Class compact lineup - think of a roadster (inspired by the Vision SLA concept car of 2001) and a possible supersports car developed by AMG

- the GLB/GLB-CLASS/GLC and MLS/MLS-CLASS trademarks signal the introduction of new models in the Mercedes-Benz lineup; when unveiled, the GLB/GLB-CLASS/GLC will reportedly become GLA and work as the SUV of the A-Class, whereas the MLS (internally codenamed C 292) is the already announced fifth model of the SUV range - a 4x4 coupe based on the M-Class, which should arrive towards 2015

- the SLC announces the Merc's intention to offer a sub-SLS hypercar from 2014 onwards

- the GLC 45, A 45, CLC 45 AMG series tells us Mercedes-Benz will offer no less than three AMG versions for the A-Class, forthcoming CLA executive 4-door coupe and future GLA compact SUV; all of them will feature a 4WD platform and will be powered by a new supercharged engine, with a total displacement of 2.0 litres and rated at 350 hp; the initial "25" was probably replaced with "45" to emphasize the power (digit 5) and the all-wheel-drive configuration (digit 4)

- ELECTRIC GREEN could be a special, pearleffect exterior paint colour, which could make its way into series production together with the electrically-powered SLS AMG E-CELL supercar, for instance, or with the new CLA or the future generation of the smart fortwo

- LGT could be the acronym for Liquefied Gas Technology, an alternative, eco-friendly powering solution similar to NGT (Natural Gas Technology), already being used for the Sprinter commercial vehicles

- the MLR-CLASS, RL-CLASS, RLC-CLASS, CLASSE CLI, CLI-KLASSE, CLI, CLI-CLASS, CLASSE CLY, CLY-KLASSE, CLY, CLY-CLASS sounds like a rather messy nomenclature, filed as we previously said, 'just in case'; there's little chance any of those titles will ever be used

- TAXI2GO, TRAVEL2GETHER, X2GETHER, PLAY2GETHER, PARK2GETHER, 2CLICKS2GO and DRIVE2FRIEND look like possible future communication or integrated personal mobility programmes similar to the car2gether pilot project and the current car2go (both of which were also included in this patents list, as you see)

- SOUNDSCARF and VOICE SCARF seem to be working on the same principle as the neck-heating AIRSCARF system for roadsters; this new technologies, if ever premiered, should equip upcoming open-top Mercedes-Benz models and improve the audio and communication experience aboard those cars

- MERCEDES-BENZ CONNECT, WELLAGILITY, COMFORTIVITY, COMFORTGILITY, COMMANDED DRIVING, COMMANDED MANEUVERING sound like complex assistance and telematics technologies for the future Mercedes-Benz cars; we think the first one will become reality alongside the @YOURCOMAND (also listed above) infotainment system to debut on the S-Class; the last two could indicate an autonomous driving technology, intensively speculated to bow on the W 222 luxury limousine as well

- CENTRAL MEDIA DISPLAY and CLOUDMOBILITY seem to go hand in hand with the above-mentioned @yourCOMAND

- CLE is the official name of the future E-Class coupe model, which meets the new nomenclature to be used by the German carmaker for its future vehicles

BABY SMART seems to be an unlikely path to go, as there is little room beneath the already microscopical smart fortwo

- ACTIVE MULTIBEAM LED signals the advent of a more powerful and efficient lighting system, with bespoke, helpful functions (such as cornering)

CARCHITECTURE, FORMULA GREEN, AUTOMOBILITY, DUONIC, BIONEYCOMB - more green technologies and vehicle concepts on the horizon?

- EFFICIENT PERFORMANCE and THE ESSENCE OF PERFORMANCE look like idioms for future media campaigns (new models, new innovations)

The future looks bright and revolutionary for Mercedes-Benz, doesn't it? What do you think?
