Last weekend, two new models from Mercedes-Benz celebrated their market launch in Germany. The dealer premiere of the CLA and E-Class attracted around 270,000 visitors to the showrooms.

"The showroom premiere of the new CLA and the new E-Class was a huge success. Our new vehicles have highly appealed to customers," says Dr. Joachim Schmidt, Vice President, Sales & Marketing Mercedes-Benz Cars. "At the heart of our brand, the E-Class is a key component of our growth strategy, Mercedes-Benz 2020. With the CLA, we are also targetting a whole new, young audience." In the U.S., the CLA arrives on the market this fall. The E-Class sedan and station wagon celebrate the launch in the U.S. and in China in July.

The saloon and estate versions of the new E-Class have been extensively revised as never before. The new CLA is the first compact four-door coupé from Mercedes-Benz and simultaneously sets itself as new aerodynamics world champion with a drag coefficient of 0.22. With more than 3,000 test drives, the interested customers have personally convinced themselves of the increased efficiency of the new engines and the forward-looking safety level of the assistance systems which equip the new models. In the coming days, about 3,300 additional trials were agreed.

The new E-Class and the CLA also met very positive response during the first tests of the media. In February, a total of around 840 journalists experienced the new E-Class at the driving event in Barcelona in person. Around 650 journalists tested the CLA in March in St. Tropez and Marseille.

The first customer was handed over the keys of its brand new CLA four-door coupe at the Mercedes-Benz Customer Center in Rastatt, a cirrus white coloured CLA 220 CDI. "We are pleased we have started delivery of the CLA, the third model of the new compact lineup, to our customers," said Waldemar Epple, Head of Mercedes-Benz Customer Center in Rastatt, at the vehicle handover. After the launch of the B-Class in November 2011 and the A-Class in September 2012, the CLA is the third model of the new Mercedes-Benz compact car generation. With the sporty coupe, Mercedes-Benz specifically targets the "Young Elite Lifestyle" in order to attract new customers to the brand with the star especially in the U.S. . The CLA is the first compact model from Mercedes-Benz to showcase Stateside. The progressive, dynamic appearance of the CLA was acknowledged by international design experts even before its launch and was granted the prestigious "red dot design award" for its outstanding design in March 2013.

The new CLA has been produced at the Kecskemét plant in Hungary since the end of January 2013, where an additional shift will be introduced on Saturdays beginning with the second quarter when required. In order to meet all customer requirements with the E-Class, plant management and works council have agreed for flexible working hours and additional production capacity for the current year in Sindelfingen. This production shifts are temporarily extended during the week with twelve additional Saturdays. The production of sedan and station wagon runs from March 1st. Mercedes-Benz expects significant sales volume pulses for the new E-Class in the second half of this year.

The eight generations of the E-Class have spread over 60 years and have been sold in more than 13 million units, which makes it the most successful Mercedes-Benz fleet volume model series in history. Over 700,000 sedans of the previous generation E-Class were sold since its launch in 2009, while the wagon was bought by more than 100,000 customers since summer of the same year. The E-Class impresses with outstanding comfort and highest safety standards. In July 2012, the E-Class once again took the first place in its category for top class customer satisfaction in the J.D. Power study.

New E-Class, CLA, E 63 AMG and CLS 63 AMG: Showtime for new Mercedes-Benz models

Don't Copy From This Blog...

Protected by Copyscape Plagiarism Detection
Spring is in the air at Mercedes-Benz and a whole array of new models is now on display at Mercedes-Benz showrooms. The Saloon and Estate of the new E-Class feature intelligently modified design, a new interior and new, efficient engines. Meanwhile, world-leading aerodynamics, thrilling avant-garde coupé design and cutting-edge technology are the hallmarks of the new CLA. And more powerful than ever are the new E 63 AMG and the Coupé and Shooting Brake of the CLS 63 AMG, which set new benchmarks in terms of performance.

The revised design of the E-Class features a new face and new proportions. The front end design is totally new, incorporating new headlamps housing all the functional elements under a single lens. The E-Class is also available for the first time with two different faces – with the classic, three-dimensional saloon grille and star on the bonnet or the sports car radiator grille with centrally positioned star. A new structural line and a newly positioned three-dimensional trim strip provide the Saloon and Estate with exciting proportions that lend the cars a new look.

Mercedes-Benz has updated the interior of the E-Class, harmoniously coordinating it with the expressive exterior. Fine materials, a two-piece trim extending across the entire width of the dashboard and markedly enhanced comfort are defining features of the interior.

Appointments offering boundless individuality

As previously, attractive design packages are available to enhance the appearance of the exterior and the interior. The new E-Class also offers extensive scope for individual design. All equipment and appointment options are available, whatever the selected equipment line.

New standard of safety with intelligent assistance systems

The modified design of the new E-Class reflects its cutting-edge technology. Both Saloon and Estate are equipped as standard with COLLISION PREVENTION ASSIST, a radar-based collision warning system with adaptive Brake Assist which significantly reduces the danger of a rear-end collision. Also featuring as standard is ATTENTION ASSIST in an enhanced version which is now able to warn of inattentiveness and drowsiness across a broader speed range. Other new or substantially enhanced assistance systems are also optionally available for the first time.

Efficient and high-performance new engines

The E-Class marks a major step forwards in terms of efficiency and ecology, thanks to new, powerful BlueDIRECT four-cylinder petrol engines featuring direct-injection technology and a new six-cylinder engine combining high performance and high torque with fuel efficiency, plus yet more efficient diesel engines.

Overall, a broad choice of powerful four, six or eight-cylinder petrol and diesel engines is available for the E-Class. All are equipped with the ECO start/stop system and combine high output with exemplary fuel efficiency. The petrol engines range in output from 135 kW (184 hp) to 430 kW (585 hp) and the diesel engines from 100 kW (136 hp) to 185 kW (252 hp). Virtually all E-Class models with diesel engines comply with efficiency class A, while the E 300 BlueTEC HYBRID even attains an A+ efficiency rating.

Despite a substantially broader scope of equipment the prices have only risen moderately, between one and less than three percent. Certain model variants are even available at a lower price than their predecessors. The entry-level price for the new E-Class stands at €40,430.25 incl. VAT for the E 200 CDI Saloon.

The new CLA: style rebel with breathtaking proportions

As a four-door coupé, the CLA boasts sporty proportions, frameless doors and a powerful, dynamic design idiom. The interior features integral seats in front and rear and continues the exterior's progressive, dynamic appearance.

In keeping with its sporty positioning, the CLA is available with high-torque petrol and diesel engines ranging in output from 90 kW (122 hp) to 155 kW (211 hp), sports suspension and 4MATIC all-wheel drive. The technical highlights of this new design icon include a new world record in aerodynamics for series production cars (Cd value: 0.22) and numerous driving assistance systems, including advanced COLLISION PREVENTION ASSIST.

All of the engines feature the ECO start/stop function as standard. The engines are combined with a six-speed manual transmission or with the 7G-DCT dual clutch automatic transmission, which reconciles comfort and sportiness in inimitable fashion.

The entry-level price for the new CLA starts at €28,977 incl. VAT for the CLA 180.

Most powerful E-Class: the new E 63 AMG

The Mercedes-Benz E 63 AMG sets a new benchmark in terms of performance, dynamism and efficiency. Its output has increased from the previous 386 kW (525 hp) and 700 Nm of torque to 410 kW (557 hp) at 720 Nm. The E 63 AMG boasts the new AMG design philosophy, featuring the "twin blade" radiator grille in silver chrome and the so-called "A wing" in the front apron. Mercedes‑AMG offers its customers tailor-made model variants for even greater individuality. The entry-level price of the new E 63 AMG is €103,054 incl. VAT.

Mercedes-Benz CLS 63 AMG: enhanced performance and efficiency

Performance update for the CLS 63 AMG: in both its Coupé and Shooting Brake variants, the CLS now offers 410 kW (557 hp) of power at 5500 rpm and maximum torque of 720 Nm. This represents an increase of 24 kW (32 hp) and 20 Nm over its predecessor. Running on 9.9 (10.1) l/100 km, its AMG 5.5-litre V8 biturbo engine also marks the absolute peak of efficiency, with no other vehicle in the segment offering such a combination of exceptional power and low fuel consumption.

The entry-level price for the new CLS 63 AMG Coupé starts at €116,203.50 incl. VAT, while the CLS 63 AMG Shooting Brake is available from €117,512.50.

Don't Copy From This Blog...

Protected by Copyscape Plagiarism Detection
With an intelligently modified, distinctive design, a new, high-grade interior, new, efficient engines and new assistance systems, Mercedes-Benz has comprehensively updated the E-Class Coupé and Cabriolet. In addition, these particularly sportily designed members of the E-Class family have taken a large step forward in terms of lively performance, efficiency and ecology. This is the result, amongst other things, of powerful new BlueDIRECT four-cylinder petrol engines employing direct injection technology. The new E-Class Coupé and Cabriolet can be ordered with immediate effect, with prices starting at 42,661.50 euros for the Coupé and 47,600 euros for the Cabriolet. They will be available for collection at Mercedes-Benz dealerships from June.

The classic Coupé and the four-seater Cabriolet of the Mercedes-Benz E-Class are amongst the desirable vehicles in their respective segments. Now Mercedes-Benz has completely revised both models. The design of the exterior and interior alike is fresh and sharp. The main feature of the new look E-Class Coupé and Cabriolet is the revised front with new headlamps featuring a single headlamp lens comprising all functional elements. The headlamps are fitted with anti-dazzle LED lights and LED daytime running lamps as standard, with full LED technology now available for the first time in this class as an option. New front bumpers with large air intakes and "wing design" chrome trim considerably accentuate the dynamism of these agile vehicles. Visibly underscoring the rear-wheel drive of these sporty cars is the muscular-looking rear wings which have been retained. Also new are the tail lamps featuring LED fibre optics.

Inside the vehicles, stylish materials dominate alongside clean-cut surfaces and the two-part trim, in wood or aluminium, which stretches across the entire dashboard. The instrument cluster has dials backed in white, while the trapezoid-shaped, high-gloss framed, full-colour display features TFT technology.

High-tech engines: efficiency meets performance

A wide choice of powerful and efficient petrol and diesel engines for the Coupé and Cabriolet – all equipped with the ECO start/stop system – ensure outstanding performance combined with exemplary efficiency. New units include the BlueDIRECT four-cylinder petrol engines in the E 200 and E 250, featuring the same technology used in the latest six-cylinder engine from Mercedes-Benz. Both of the four-cylinder petrol engines meet the future EU6 standard, while in the Coupé they even comply with the strict criteria of efficiency class A.

The six-cylinder petrol engines in the Coupé and Cabriolet are also state-of-the-art. In the E 400, for the first time the six-cylinder features a biturbo drive and sets new standards in this class for performance and fuel consumption. The efficient four-cylinder diesel engines in the E 220 CDI and E 250 CDI are also more economical, thanks amongst other things to a revised drive train, and are classified in efficiency class A+.

New level of safety with intelligent assistance systems

Both the Coupé and Cabriolet models of the E-Class are fitted as standard with COLLISION PREVENTION ASSIST, a radar-based collision warning system with adaptive Brake Assist. It helps to significantly reduce the risk of a rear-end collision. Also forming part of the standard specification is a further improved ATTENTION ASSIST, which is now able to warn of inattentiveness and drowsiness across a wider speed range.

In addition, all assistance systems of the E-Class family which are either new or now feature significantly extended functions are also optionally available, for example the new Driving Assistance package Plus.

The new E-Class Cabriolet and Coupé can be ordered with immediate effect. Prices for the individual models have been increased only moderately despite a much larger equipment package. The entry-level price for the new E-Class Coupé is 42,661.50 euros incl. VAT (for the E 200 Coupé). The Cabriolet prices start at 47,600 euros incl. VAT (for the E 200 Cabriolet).

New E-Class to land in dealerships from April: Efficient, intelligent, emotionally appealing

Don't Copy From This Blog...

Protected by Copyscape Plagiarism Detection
With new, efficient engines, new assistance systems from the future S-Class and a new design idiom, Mercedes-Benz has comprehensively modernised the E-Class. The new E-Class has made a significant step forward when it comes to efficiency and ecology too. Among other things, this comes courtesy of new, powerful BlueDIRECT four-cylinder petrol engines featuring sophisticated direct injection technology. The E 63 AMG sets new standards in terms of performance, dynamism and efficiency, and in the future will also be available with 4MATIC and as an S-Model variant. The new E-Class is available to order with immediate effect, and will be available for collection from Mercedes-Benz dealerships from April 2013.

Mercedes-Benz has revised the Saloon and Estate models of the E-Class more comprehensively than ever before and as such is extending its leading position in the luxury segment even further. Thanks to new technology and some intelligently applied visual retouching, both variants are now being showcased as new cars.

Efficient, powerful new engines

The new E-Class has made a significant step forward when it comes to efficiency and ecology too. This comes courtesy of new, powerful BlueDIRECT four-cylinder petrol engines featuring direct injection technology, a new, particularly powerful, torquey and at the same time economical six-cylinder engine, as well as even more efficient diesel engines.

The four-cylinder diesel engines in the E 200 CDI, E 220 CDI and E 250 CDI are now even more economical, thanks among other things to a revised drivetrain. This is also the case for the E 300 BlueTEC HYBRID, currently the most economical luxury-class saloon, which in addition to the four-cylinder diesel engine also has a 20 kW (27 hp) electric motor.

The V6 diesel engines in the E 300 BlueTEC and E 350 BlueTEC have been revised and fitted with environmentally friendly and efficient BlueTEC technology, such that they currently already meet the future EU6 emissions standard. Virtually all of the E-Class models with diesel engines fall into efficiency class A, while the E 300 BlueTEC HYBRID is even classified in efficiency class A+.

Overall, a wide choice of powerful petrol and diesel engines with four, six or eight cylinders is available for the E-Class. All are fitted with the ECO start/stop system and combine high performance with exemplary economy. The power output levels range from 135 kW (184 hp) to 430 kW (585 hp) for the petrol engines, and from 100 kW (136 hp) to 185 kW (252 hp) for the diesel engines.

New level of safety with intelligent assistance systems

As standard, both the Saloon and Estate models are fitted with COLLISION PREVENTION ASSIST, a radar-based collision warning system with adaptive brake assist systems. It helps to significantly reduce the risk of a rear-end collision. Also forming part of the standard equipment is an enhanced ATTENTION ASSIST, which is now able to warn of inattentiveness and drowsiness across a wider speed range.

In addition, also optionally available are a number of assistance systems which are either new or now feature significantly extended functions. These include:

DISTRONIC PLUS with Steering Assist can help to take the burden off the driver when it comes to keeping the vehicle in its lane and also track traffic in tailbacks semi-automatically

for the first time, the Brake Assist system BAS PLUS with Junction Assist is able to detect crossing traffic and pedestrians too, and boost the braking power applied by the driver accordingly

the PRE-SAFE® Brake can detect pedestrians and initiate autonomous braking to avoid a collision at speeds up to 50 km/h

Adaptive Highbeam Assist Plus allows the main-beam headlamps to be kept on permanently without dazzling traffic by masking out other vehicles in the beams' cone of light

Design: confidently stylish, refined, sporty

The trend-setting technology of the E-Class is also reflected in its design, which thanks to some intelligent changes affords both the Saloon and Estate a new front-end look and new proportions. The front has been completely redesigned and features new headlamps which comprise all functional elements in a single headlamp lens. In addition, for the first time, the E-Class is available with two different front-end designs – the classic, three-dimensional Saloon grille and star on the bonnet, or the sports car radiator.

A new feature line and a repositioned three-dimensional trim strip give both the Saloon and Estate models new, visually exciting proportions. The feature line runs below the structure line from the rear door through to the tail light. Visually this benefits the vehicle in terms of length. Overall the E-Class looks more elongated and elegant, yet at the same time dynamic.
Mercedes-Benz has also revised the interior of the new E-Class, and harmonised it with the expressive exterior. The interior is dominated by high-quality materials, a two-part trim element which stretches across the entire dashboard, as well as a significantly enhanced level of comfort.

Limitless individual appointments

As ever, there are attractive design packages to visually enhance both the interior and exterior. Furthermore, the new E-Class offers a variety of individualisation options. Irrespective of the chosen equipment line, all appointment options remain available. As such each vehicle can be individually tailored to ensure that it is unlike any other. For example, a Saloon or Estate can be totally classic on the outside, but display a highly modern character on the inside.

The most powerful E-Class is available from AMG

Setting new standards in terms of performance, dynamism and efficiency is the Mercedes-Benz E 63 AMG in the form of the S-Model, which features a maximum power output of 430 kW (585 hp) and 800 Nm of torque as well as a newly developed, performance-oriented AMG 4MATIC all-wheel drive system. The permanent all-wheel drive is also available as an optional extra for the remaining E 63 AMG models, whose output is increasing to 410 kW (557 hp). With the new E 63 AMG, Mercedes-AMG is offering its customers even more individuality, and for the first time also powerful passenger car models with an all-wheel drive system designed to provide exciting driving dynamics.

The new E-Class is available to order with immediate effect. Despite a significant increase in the scope of the specifications, the prices of the individual models have increased only moderately by between one and less than three percent. Individual model variants such as the E 500 and E 500 4MATIC are even more favourably priced than their predecessors. The same also applies to the E 63 AMG, which Mercedes-Benz has set at a price which is even 2.6 percent lower. The entry-level price for the new E-Class is €40,430.25 (incl. VAT) for the E 200 CDI. In the case of the petrol models, prices start at €41,917.75 (incl. VAT) for the E 200, and extend up to €73,393.25 (incl. VAT) for the E 500 4MATIC. Prices for the AMG models range from €103,054 to €118,405 (incl. VAT - prices indicated are for the Saloon models).

Market launch of the new Mercedes-Benz GL-Class: Show time for the new GL

Don't Copy From This Blog...

Protected by Copyscape Plagiarism Detection
Having only recently been decorated with the "2012 Golden Steering Wheel" award, the GL-Class is now available with immediate effect in showrooms. Often referred to in the international press as the "all-terrain, seven-seater S-Class", the GL-Class boasts a broad power output range as well as an attractive price-performance ratio. The GL 350 BlueTEC 4MATIC diesel model, for example, features extended standard equipment yet offers customers a €4000 saving over the preceding model.

The GL 500 4MATIC BlueEFFICIENCY impresses with its modern and efficient V8 petrol engine and a level of appointments which has been enhanced even further. Here the saving over the preceding model is almost €1800. The star of the model range is the high-performance GL 63 AMG SUV.

The new GL models come with a wide variety of equipment which was either not available, or only available at additional cost, on the preceding models. This includes comfort details such as electric sliding sunroof, electrically operated EASY-PACK tailgate, EASY ENTRY system for convenient access to the third row of seats from both sides, high-dampening acoustic windscreen or electromechanical steering. In the interior, the scope of standard equipment comprises a colour screen with photo-realistic display or dashboard finished in ARTICO man-made leather. In addition, the GL 500 4MATIC BlueEFFICIENCY also offers Active Parking Assist including PARKTRONIC, the Intelligent Light System, the KEYLESS-GO access and drive authorisation system, 3-zone THERMOTRONIC automatic climate control or multicontour seats for driver and front passenger including massage function and genuine leather upholstery.

Also available for the first time as a high-performance SUV, Mercedes-AMG has enhanced the main stylistic features of the GL – powerful dynamism and sporty elegance – using specific elements that emphasise the flagship V8 model's exceptional performance. A specially designed transfer case has therefore been used for the 4MATIC permanent all-wheel drive, which distributes the drive power to the front and rear axle at a ratio of 40:60 in the interests of dynamic handling. The AMG RIDE CONTROL sports suspension with AIRMATIC package – consisting of air suspension, special damper struts, automatic level control and Adaptive Damping System (ADS) – is combined with the ACTIVE CURVE SYSTEM for active roll stabilisation.

Exclusivity and dynamism also dominate in the interior of the GL 63 AMG. All seven seats in the high-performance SUV are covered in high-quality leather, as is the centre armrest. Electrically adjustable AMG sports seats feature double topstitching in a contrasting colour and AMG badges on the front seat backrests and outer rear seat backrests. The dashboard, armrests and door panelling come in ARTICO man-made leather with double topstitching.

Not to be overlooked as part of the added-value details fitted as standard to the new GL are also the new engines, which boast better performance with increased output and torque, while at the same time enabling a reduction in fuel consumption levels. As a result, the 190 kW (258 hp) GL 350 BlueTEC 4MATIC achieves an NEDC consumption of 7.4 l/100 km. The V8 petrol model, the GL 500 4MATIC BlueEFFICIENCY, produces 320 kW (435 hp) and powerful torque levels of 700 Nm while consuming just 11.3 l/100 km (NEDC). In the GL 63 AMG, exclusive AMG appointment details and a V8 biturbo petrol engine producing 410 kW (557 hp) and 760 Nm of torque all add up to a unique driving experience.

Prices* at a glance:

- GL 350 BlueTEC 4MATIC: €60,900 (€72,471)
- GL 500 4MATIC BlueEFFICIENCY: €79,500 (€94,605)
- GL 63 AMG: €109,500 (€130,305)

* non-binding recommended price excluding (including) 19% VAT for the German market

Market launch of the new Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG GT: Race track performance comes to the showroom

The new SLS AMG GT has now landed in Mercedes-Benz showrooms in both Coupé and Roadster variants. According to Ola Källenius, Chairman of Mercedes-AMG GmbH: "We are continuing with our consistent expansion of the SLS AMG family. With the highly emotional, performance-oriented GT variants, our range has now grown to five models." The SLS AMG GT has also been in use as the Official F1™ Safety Car since the 2012 FORMULA 1 SHELL BELGIAN GRAND PRIX.

Dynamic, masculine and decidedly athletic: fitted as standard with AMG forged wheels painted in matt black with a high-sheen finish, darkened headlamps and tail lights as well as red-painted brake callipers, the high performance of the SLS AMG GT is also highlighted in terms of its look. The wing-shaped cross fins and the star recess in the radiator grille are retained in high-gloss black, as are the exterior mirrors and the fins on the bonnet and wings. The AMG logo on the right of the boot lid also features the additional letters "GT".

The maximum output of the AMG 6.3-litre V8 front-mid engine is 435 kW (591 hp) at 6800 rpm, while the maximum torque is 650 Nm at 4750 rpm. The super sports car accelerates from zero to 100 km/h in 3.7 seconds, and can reach a speed of 200 km/h in 11.2 seconds. The top speed is 320 km/h (electronically limited). The GT version of the eight-cylinder naturally aspirated engine provides an agile response to accelerator pedal input and excites with its sporty performance. The AMG SPEEDSHIFT DCT 7-speed sports transmission located on the rear axle is more direct and spontaneous in the manual "M" transmission mode: thanks to newly developed gear change functions and optimised transmission control, it has been possible to shorten reaction time significantly. The reaction time experienced by the driver is made even more emotional as a result of more distinct gear changes. The automatic double-declutching function when shifting down is also more pronounced in the SLS AMG GT.

New AMG RIDE CONTROL Performance suspension

Fitted with variable, electronically controlled damping, the new AMG RIDE CONTROL Performance suspension features basically stiffer spring/damper tuning and dispenses with "Comfort" mode. "Sport" mode is recommended as the optimum setting for undulating road surfaces and routes requiring increased suspension travel. "Sport plus" provides higher damping forces and features specific control algorithms which have been adjusted for a decidedly sporty driving style on routes with a level road surface. Depending on the driving conditions, speed and vehicle load, the AMG RIDE CONTROL Performance suspension adjusts the damping characteristics at lightning speed and automatically reduces the roll angle of the body.

Interior with consistently sporty highlights

The SLS AMG GT combines the high-quality ambience of a true AMG model with the functional atmosphere of a racing car. The sports seats have embossed badges on their head restraints and centre sections finished in Alcantara®. Continuing the theme, Alcantara® is also found on the door centre panels. The black interior appointments are combined with red seat belts, plus all of the contrasting stitching on the AMG sports seats, the centre console and the door panel lining is retained in red too. The floor mats also feature red edging.

The philosophy of the exterior design with darkened components is also reflected in the interior: The high-gloss black AMG trim on the centre console and door panel lining matches the high-gloss black edging on the adjustable cross-shaped air vents as well as the high-gloss real metal insert on the AMG Performance steering wheel with flattened lower section. Alcantara® is also to be found on the grip area, and the upper part of the steering wheel has a red 12 o'clock marking. The dials of the AMG instrument cluster are finished in black.

AMG designo Exclusive STYLE leather for all SLS AMG models

Now available for all SLS AMG models is a new, exclusive optional extra in the form of AMG designo Exclusive STYLE leather. This high-quality extra is available in single or two-tone finishes and comprises distinctive upholstery with a diamond design with contrasting stitching. The lavishly finished diamond design features not only on the AMG sports seats, but also on the door centre panels. Seams finished in contrasting colours create highlights and underscore the high-quality, hand-finished nature of these new full-leather appointments. Available colour combinations include mocha brown/porcelain, titanium grey pearl/porcelain and mystic red/porcelain.

Bang & Olufsen BeoSound AMG high-end surround sound system

A highlight among the optional extras available for the SLS AMG GT is the Bang & Olufsen BeoSound system. The surround sound system offers a superlative music experience. This is made possible not just by the amplifier, which provides a 1000-watt output, and the 11 loudspeakers, but also by the precise distribution of the music signals, selectable for the driver's seating position, the passenger's seating position or to a central point.

Prices in Germany (incl. 19% VAT):

In the next few days, the first customers will be taking delivery of the SL 65 AMG worldwide. The exclusive, top-of-the-range V12 Roadster, with a maximum output of 463 kW (630 hp) and maximum torque of 1000 Nm, will also be available for initial test drives. "The combination of exclusive V12 dynamism and refined roadster driving experience is unique. We are convinced that, with the new SL 65 AMG, we are able to offer an incomparably exciting high-performance vehicle for the small, but loyal community of fans", according to Ola Källenius, CEO of Mercedes-AMG GmbH.

As an alternative to the classic vehicle delivery method at dealerships and authorised agents of Mercedes-Benz, customers can also take receipt of their SL 65 AMG direct from the AMG Customer Center in Affalterbach. When collecting their vehicle in this way, customers are able to gain an exclusive insight into the world of AMG and also experience the excellent quality of customer care which is typical of AMG: after being welcomed by a personal customer service attendant, and treated to some hospitality in the AMG Private Lounge which was opened in 2011, they are taken on a tour of the plant. This also includes a visit to the AMG Performance Studio, where individual and one-off AMG vehicles are developed and produced by hand in limited numbers. In the AMG engine production facility, AMG customers have the unique opportunity to meet the engineers who have produced the V12 engine used in their SL 65 AMG by hand, in accordance with the traditional philosophy of "one man, one engine".

The highlight of the day is finally the moment when the customer takes receipt of the new SL 65 AMG: in the new 360 m2 delivery hall, customers are extensively briefed on the technology and operation of their new V12 Roadster. Vehicle collection from the AMG Customer Center in Affalterbach is available for all AMG high-performance vehicles in Germany, and also includes a full tank of petrol.

The most powerful Mercedes-AMG Roadster

The AMG 6.0-litre V12 biturbo engine develops a maximum output of 463 kW (630 hp) and maximum torque of 1000 Nm. The unrivalled performance figures of the SL 65 AMG translate into an exceptional driving experience: acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h takes 4 seconds, with the 200 km/h mark being attained after just 11.8 seconds. The top speed is 250 km/h (electronically limited). As with the SLS AMG super sports car, the use of an all-aluminium bodyshell results in a drastic reduction in weight. The new SL 65 AMG is some 170 kilograms lighter than before. The boot lid also helps to further trim the weight. For the first time on a mass-produced model, the internal support is made from lightweight carbon-fibre composite material. An important aspect of the new model is the intelligent lightweight construction which also contributes to reducing the fuel consumption: at 11.6 litres per 100 km (NEDC combined), it represents a saving of 2.4 litres or 17 percent compared with the preceding model, and establishes a new benchmark in the twelve-cylinder petrol engine segment.

AMG sports suspension based on Active Body Control

Mercedes-AMG also makes systematic use of lightweight construction principles, as well as numerous axle components made of aluminium, for the suspension. As standard, the SL 65 AMG comes fitted with the AMG sports suspension, based on Active Body Control. The design and appointments are also exceptional and exclusive: the "twin blade" radiator grille, with two blade-shaped louvres and stylised "A" positioned underneath – a characteristic feature of AMG vehicles – all complement each other perfectly, along with the front apron's lower cross strut finished in high-sheen chrome.

In addition to the two special chromed twin tailpipes of the AMG sports exhaust system, the characteristic V12 features include the "V12 BITURBO" lettering on the front wings and the AMG 5-spoke light-alloy wheels painted in titanium grey with a high-sheen finish and equipped with 255/35 R 19 and 285/30 R 19 tyres on the front and rear respectively.

Particular highlights include the electrically adjustable AMG sports seats with single or two-tone upholstery in Exclusive nappa leather, special AMG V12 diamond-design seat upholstery layout and embossed AMG emblems on the seat backrests. The designo roof lining in leather with partial AMG V12 diamond-design stitching, AMG carbon-fibre trim elements and IWC-design analogue clock provide the perfect visual and tactile finishing touches.

Bang & Olufsen BeoSound AMG high-end surround sound system

An attractive highlight among the extensive standard equipment of the SL 65 AMG is the Bang & Olufsen BeoSound AMG high-end surround sound system: Mercedes-Benz and Mercedes-AMG have created it in conjunction with famous Danish audio specialists Bang & Olufsen. The sound system enables an exclusive music experience to be enjoyed at the very highest level. The basis of the system is formed not only by the amplifier with a total output of 900 watts and 12 high-end loudspeakers including Frontbass, but also the precise distribution of the music signals, controlled by the sound processor, to the selectable seating positions of driver, front passenger or the central position.

Thanks to the digital sound processor (DSP), it is also possible to choose between the high-end "reference" studio sound and spacious surround sound. All of the functions are operated using the COMAND system via a special Bang & Olufsen menu. Particular highlights include the illuminated lens tweeters on the dashboard – they help to create the characteristic virtual sound stage in front of the vehicle occupants. High-quality aluminium loudspeaker covers finished in silver chrome with the Bang & Olufsen logo give an indication of the exceptional position enjoyed by this high-end system.

The extensive range of standard equipment includes:

- COMAND Online with 6-disc DVD changer

- Anti-theft alarm system

- Frontbass

- Remote-unlocking boot lid incl. power closing for boot lid

- Intelligent Light System ILS

- KEYLESS-GO Convenience package (incl. remote-closing boot lid and HANDS-‑ FREE ACCESS system)
