Early Reveal: Step inside the new Mercedes-Benz S-Class

If the exterior photos with the new S-Class were not enough for today, a set of interior pics has also leaked on the internet shortly after. Most probably, Mercedes-Benz executives are in shock after this unexpected uncover of their crucial luxury flagship.

The majority of these interior shots are taken in dark light, so not many details are accesible to the naked eye. However, due to ambience lighting, one cam make most of the general design of the passenger shuttle. Many already knew how the dashboard of the new S-Class looked months before such images ever hit the interwebs, because several interior scoops appeared through time joining the usual spy pics of test prototypes.

The centrepoints of this mindblowing inner design are the two-spoke multifunctional steering wheel with chic factor (a tribute paid to 1960s predecessors W 108/W 109 and W 111/W 112 model series) and the impressive displays - the digital instrument cluster and the LCD for the new @yourCOMAND internet-based infotainment system. The center console is minimal but also extravagant as well, comprising four rounded air vents, the glossy analogue clock and the easy-access controls for HVAC. Another highlight is the large slab of wood that surrounds the cabin using the mid-section of the dashboard and the upper part of the door covers. Besides that, the atmosphere of wellbeing and refinement is further encompassed by the use of aluminium and stitched, two-tone or monochrome leather upholstery, in various colours, styles and consistencies, on both front and rear seats as well as on select portions of the dashboard. Thus, you can hardly find visible plastic, even though it is mainly good quality, soft-appearance, foam-injected type.

The centre tunnel which houses the armrests and further commands (like the rotary controller for the infotainment system and the ride dynamics controls) extends from front to rear, so the new S-Class becomes a vehicle with 4-seat architecture instead of the previous 5-seat organization. Furthermore, upon request, the front seats can be equipped with rear-facing displays for the entertainment of backseat passengers. Last, but not least, the intelligent seats have massage, heating and ventilation functions (that each passenger can modify from the corresponding door-placed seat-like controls), but also work together with safety systems (such as PRE-SAFE) and active ride technologies (MAGIC RIDE CONTROL, MAGIC BODY CONTROL), to ensure everyone stays firmly, yet highly comfortably attached to their own seat. Nonetheless, the rear belts can be optionally fitted with the state-of-the-art, one-of-a-kind Beltbag, which succesfully replaces the Sidebag and works in conjuction with the Windowbag to further increase security level.

The new Burmester professional high-performance audio system will transform the new S-Class into a four-wheeled concert hall. Furthermore, the soundproof technology and the aerodynamic, low-Cd body ensure minimal NVH (Noise, Vibration, Harshness) values and improve acoustics. The select touch is further enhanced by the presence of ambience lighting technology in different, customizable colours, as well as the perfume dispenser-atomizer, located in the dashboard compartment, which, at times (again, this can also be programmed), sprays the cabin with pleasant flavours to refresh the atmosphere inside the new S-Class.

So, now take a deep breath and start dreaming while you enjoy the pictures of this remarkable interior. Truly, the new S-Class is now, more than ever in the past, the epitome of automotive luxury.

Early Reveal: The new Mercedes-Benz S-Class caught "naked" during promo shooting

Protected by Copyscape Plagiarism Detection
After years of Mercedes-Benz holding a complete secret over its new luxury flagship, the "security" barrier was breached today as spy photographers managed to sneak beyond "enemy" lines and take pictures of a completely undisguised S-Class 222 model series.

The S-Class you see in these captures features a long wheelbase (look at the longer rear doors), so this vehicle gets the internal designation V 222 unlike the SWB (standard or short wheelbase) variant which is codenamed W 222. Given its special licence plate (S : W 2226 - W 222 for the model series and 6 for the 6th generation), the car was probably being used for filming some promo materials (pictures and presentation videos) for the Mercedes-Benz network websites and for the webspecial page the Germans are readying for the launch of the new S-Class.

The pictured 2014 Mercedes-Benz S-Class wears the bespoke AMG Sport coat and boasts a shining silver paint job. What strikes the most is the simply perfectly balanced silhouette of the car. The proportions and all the minute details visible in these photos were carefully mastered for maximum effect.

The new front end is highly dynamic: the large-sized, four-louvred lamella radiator grille placed upright harks back to luxury ancestors from the 60s and 70s, while the full LED headlights display some mindblowing inner graphics that are set to look fabulous when seen on street or in the mirrors.

The alloy wheels the car was equipped with replicate jet airplane turbines through their design and certainly look astonishing when the S-Class is in motion. The discrete dropping line, the new door handles and the bigger exterior mirrors and certain refined, chromed lines complete the sporty, yet elegant styling of the side profile.

The rear end sports a timeless design with its beautifully carved elements. The gorgeous LED tail lamps and the new double exhaust pipes accentuate the new S-Class as the all-time trendsetter and leader of the premium luxury segment.

If some were suggesting the 222 generation is in fact an evolution of the 221 series, then they could not be wronger. While not entirely an artistic revolution, it is certainly a head turner and a complete departure from the current model.

Hopefully, we will receive more details from inside the company during the next weeks till the official premiere of the new Mercedes-Benz S-Class takes place on May 15th in Hamburg.

Save the date: The new Mercedes-Benz S-Class (W 222) debuts 15th May in Hamburg

A recent official announcement issued to media by Daimler AG executives reveals the crucial detail we have been waiting for so long: after approximately one year of delay, the new S-Class W 222 model series will be premiered on the 15th May 2013 in Hamburg, Germany (not 26th March, as initially reported).

A special celebration event will set the stage for the official entrance of the S-Class into the automotive industry. Prestigious automotive journalists, as well as celebrities and numerous dealer representative from all over the world, are invited to the ceremony to be held in the picturesque harbour city of Hamburg on the river Elbe.

The 2014 model year Mercedes-Benz S-Class (in Europe as well) is also receiving a private preview show in Valencia, Spain, these days, where select authorized dealers and brand executives - in total, around 14500, are getting introduced to the outstanding technological package of the new trendsetting luxury flagship from Stuttgart. Of course, if you were wondering, no electronic devices are allowed, so do not expect any early leaks of the W 222.

One of the most important technical advances that sets the S-Class well ahead of its competitors is the ground-breaking PRE-SAFE system, which has not only become sharper in recognizing potential dangers and avoiding them as much as possible, but also is now incorporating a one-of-a-kind function that recognizes persons walking on street and, when necessary, mitigates an imminent impact with those.

OFFICIAL: The new Mercedes-Benz S-Class prone to appear in mid-2013

Don't Copy From This Blog...

Protected by Copyscape Plagiarism Detection
Dr. Dieter Zetsche revealed today the new GLA-Class will be introduced at Frankfurt, with the Concept GLA-Class to be showcased in two months as (main) highlight of the Auto Shanghai 2013. Our strong belief is that this late position from the top of the company is rather contradictory and contrasting to recent reports towards the outcome of the new S-Class, which, seriously, received postponement after postponement.

Before we start the analysis, this is Dr. Z's statement from the speech:

"Our most important new model will make its world debut in the middle of this year: the new S-Class. The S-Class is not “just any” car:

- It is the epitome of the luxury sedan;
- a symbol of German engineering skill recognized the world over;
- a metaphor for best-in-class."

These latest allegations put the introduction of the new S-Class under high doubt. Initially, as we have already reported in our various articles on this topic, the W 222 should be officially premiered at the Chinese motor show in April, following the release of the first pictures and specifications at the end of March (26th ??). But, as visible from the same speech, Dr. Z stated clearly the S-Class is coming in the middle of 2013 - June or July, most likely.

However, he confirmed the new S-Class future portfolio will comprise up to five variants, without making any further comments. Those versions should be the standard model (SWB, LWB), the Pullman (XLWB), the Coupe (C 217), the Cabriolet (A 217) and maybe, the 4-door Coupe (C 222).

The statement: "In the coming years, we will launch five versions of the new S-Class."

The document with the full speech can be found at --> http://bit.ly/XqQYY8

In the mean time, we show you the latest spyshots of the S-Class captured in wintry Sweden, where the W 222 continues the cold weather development programme.

SPY: Winter scoops starring the 2013 Mercedes-Benz S-Class (W 222)

Everybody's rather impacient by now, as Mercedes-Benz keeps postponing the release of any official images and specifications for its eagerly awaited new generation S-Class high luxury flagship. FEP prototypes have been since since summer 2012 and the exterior camouflage is slowly pilled off revealing more details from underneath. The latest spy shots were captured in Sweden, where the model is undergoing the final stage of the cold weather street testing programme.

It is clearly visible the new S-Class will display a mindblowing stance. The centrepiece of the newly designed front end will be large lamella chromed grille, a traditional symbol of any upscale Mercedes-Benz premium model and a reminiscence from legendary ancestors of the 1950s and 1960s. The new full LED headlights with their impressive inner graphics will also attract a lot of curious eyes. The profile, as seen in the latest scoops, will be extremely sleek and elegant, so we are expecting top marks in the aerodynamics departments as well. The rear fascia will further highlight the car's upscale status, also being a logical evolution of the current design seen on the W 221 S-Class.

All in all, the new S-Class will build on its solid heritage - evolution and refinement in terms of styling. The real revolution will be the technical and technological upgrades the W 222 brings to the industry. When unveiled, the high-end limousine will already be world's most intelligent and advanced automobile.

SPY: The 2013 Mercedes-Benz S-Class (W 222) - Latest interior shots

These are the best spy photos to date of the 2013 S-Class interior. Have a look over the jump!

The interior cabin design should not come as a surprise to anyone: it is exactly how a Mercedes-Benz flagship should look like. While evolutionary, the designers have managed to harmonise the fresh lines with the conservative approach sticking to the brand’s core values.

Nevertheless, even if the limited shots are far from building up the whole image, they do reveal a strong character that will hopefully contribute to adding a new chapter in the S-Class's successful history.
