In 2015, Mercedes-Benz will start production for a new model series at the US-based plant Tuscaloosa, Alabama: the MLC-Class will be company's first-ever SUV coupe. Initial photos and details should be officially issued by mid-December 2014, with the official introduction slated for NAIAS Detroit the following year and the market release later on in spring. Internally codenamed C 292, the new MLC sits on a modified ML-Class chassis. We expect the vehicle will be substantially longer than its brother and also more dynamic and refined. The development stage kicked off recently, with photographers spotting an entire fleet of W 166 test mules for the future SUV coupe being deployed in Germany along with some BMW X6 vehicles, whom the MLC-Class is directly aimed at. First real test prototypes, featuring a finished design hidden under the camouflage, could hit streets in about four months from now.
As seen from the spy shots, the rear wings on the ML models are modified to accomodate the new components of the MLC-Class chassis. The car will be standardly equipped with the 4MATIC permanent all-wheel-drive traction, tweaked for best on-road performance and a sports ride. The ON & OFFROAD package with integrated management will be offered as an option, like for the ML and GL.
We cannot be very imaginative regarding the exterior design of the C 292. The tons of renditions that appeared since this model was rumored a few years ago might offer just a mild impression, miles different from the real car. Although it is not entirely a coupe (not if you count the number of doors), we expect Mercedes-Benz designers will deliver a spectacular exercise of style and elegance, paying a tribute to the 2-door models of the constructor into a very modern interpretation.

The fifth generation of the C-Class is planned to debut sometime during 2014. Dubbed W 205, the midsized premium limousine is a crucial model in the 2020 growth strategy that has been just recently adopted by Mercedes-Benz. A large volume of the series production for this vehicle will be moved at Tuscaloosa, Alabama, USA, with the rest of the assembly facility remaining at the current location in Bremen.Development for the future C-Class began during winter 2011/2012, so the prototypes could endure their first-ever cold weather programme, a vital part in the testing of any forthcoming Mercedes-Benz. The powertrain for the new generation will consist of the new Mercedes Rearwheel Architecture (MRA), which shall first make its official debut on the S-Class (W 222) this autumn. This will bring a substantial improvement in the dynamic capability of the car without affecting the well-known comfortable ride of any Mercedes-Benz model. To get the C-Class going, an entire lineup of frugal engines is specifically being developed at the moment. The brand new diesel-powered and gasoline-running units will feature displacements ranging from 1.8 litres up to 3.5 litre and will display I4 and V6 (and/or I6?) cylinder arrangements. Probably, most of the diesel powerplants will boast BlueTEC technology and a potent, high-end diesel engine is also possible. For the high-end C 350 petrol version, peak output should increase a bit from the current 306 hp. The top C-Class model will be the sporty C 63 AMG that is to use a further modified version of the current 5.5-litre biturbo V8, meaning it will also get an important upgrade in performance. If one is keen to save the planet, we would to like to inform him/her that the W 205 might premiere some plug-in hybrid and fuel-cell green variants, but only after 2015.
For the safety side of things, Mercedes-Benz researchers and engineers are preparing a consistent package of clever assistance systems that will surely make the difference between life and death in the event of a threatening situation. Alongside the well-known solutions such as PRE-SAFE or Collision Prevention Assist, the new C-Class could also be equipped with an optional autonomous driving system that uses a multitude of sensors, cameras and the fourth generation DISTRONIC PLUS radar to steer the car independent from the driver's action at speeds of up to 50 km/h. Moreover, the W 205 will also direct connectivity and communication means to a new level thanks to the addition of the Car-to-X technology, which enables a better interaction with the road, environment and the other cars and thus improves the flow of data and information to your own vehicle.

Development for the new CLC-Class, internally codenamed C 117, began during summer 2011 and, at the moment, the future compact 4-door coupe is approaching the middle of the experimental phase. With this model, Mercedes-Benz aims to expand its new compact class portfolio - the technical basis for the CLC will be the modular MFA front-driven platform, already underpinning the new A-Class and B-Class generations.The CLC-Class is obviously a smaller alternative to the ol' daddy CLS, but in no way inferior to the business 4-door coupe. Its powerful attributes are the youthful outer styling boasting the coupe-ish dropping roofline, the traditional Mercedes-Benz luxury interior, smart technologies such as the comprehensive array of safety systems and the latest generation of clever telematics. Last, but not least, the CLC will feature a complete lineup of new, efficient petrol and diesel engines with peak outputs ranging from 109 hp to 211 hp. Starting 2013, a CLC 25 AMG sports version is due to hit streets. Following the A 25 AMG example, it will too boast 4x4 traction and 350 hp out of a 2.0-litre supercharged 4-cylinder gasoline powerplant mastered by AMG's division of high performance powertrains headquartered at Brixworth, UK.
The series CLC-Class will be revealed at the Paris motor show this autumn, but we'll get a preview of the new car on 20th April, when the Concept Style Coupé makes its official appearance at the Mercedes-Benz Transmission LA:AV CLUB festival.

In short time, Mercedes-Benz will introduce the new CLS Shooting Brake at the New York Auto Show 2012. This model is reinterpretation of the classic shooting brake style and, at the same, announces the advent of a new automotive species: the 4-door wagon coupe. Initially designed to preview the new generation CLS, the Concept Shooting Brake of 2010 was very well received by the public, so Daimler executives decided to approve the daring project.The basic styling is shared with its brother, but the CLS Shooting Brake boasts a distinctive aura for the tail section. The rakish roofline dramatically descends towards the rear end and together with the beautifully arched side windows add up to the overall coupe effect. Compared to the standard CLS (C 218), in the case of the X 218, the LED lamps at the back feature refinely shaped accents to ease the differentiation between the two variants. Inside, there's nothing to worry about, as the CLS Shooting Brake is a true Mercedes-Benz: expect premium quality materials in attractive combinations - metal, wood and leather upholstery are on the choice list.
Safety package will include the latest assistance systems and modules, such as the ATTENTION ASSIST, the PRE-SAFE crash anticipatory system, the Blind Spot Assist and the DISTRONIC PLUS radar with Brake Assist Plus. The digital experience will be enriched through the addition of the internet-based COMAND Online telematics. The newest version of the infotainment system handles each function of the car and helps you and the car stay in permanent contact with the ever-changing world thanks to the implementation of internet technology.
The BlueEFFICIENCY engines will be borrowed from the CLS Coupe: top diesel model is the CLS 350 CDI rated at 265 hp, while the high-end gasoline variant is the CLS 500 with up to 408 hp. A hardcore CLS 63 AMG Shooting Brake is currently under development and, when it's unveiled in late 2012, it will be powered by a 5.5-litre twin-turbo V8 engine producing 525 hp (557 hp with Performance Package). Moreover, a 4MATIC all-wheel-drive option will be available beginning with 2013. At launch, the standard CLS SB will be priced above the CLS - in Germany, base price could start at around €64,000. The car hits European markets beginning with fall 2012, whereas US residents will have to wait until 2013 to get their hands onto the new CLS Shooting Brake.

Spring has come, so the test prototypes of future Mercs head over to the renowned Nurburgring track for a thorough shakedown. One of the first to have been spotted recently on the Nordschleife circuit is the forthcoming SLS AMG Black Series super-hot model. This new rocket tweaked in the Affalterbach labs is slated to make its official entrance on the automotive stage in the second part of this year.The Black Series 'gullwing' will benefit from a special treatment, which aims to deliver a spectacular visual result as well as top performance figures. The car has already underwent a strict diet to lose the extra, unnecessary kilograms that might affect the desired sports ride. Moreso, further aerodynamic body elements make up an aggressive and dynamically eficient kit which looks to set the Black Series version apart from the standard SLS AMG and also to improve the drag coefficient (Cd) and lower the air resistance for the car to flow smoothly on the roads. The generous frontal air intakes help the huge V8 engine under the bonnet to cool down when pushed to its utmost limits. At the back end, a visible tail-mounted spoiler will add more grip to the rear axle to ensure the car stays firmly 'glued' to the ground. Power will be sent to the rear wheels courtesy of a modified 7-speed MCT SPEEDSHIFT gearbox designed to handle those numerous ponnies.

The new A-Class si easily the most emotional model in the premium compact segment. It is no wonder the car caused a general stir at the Geneva show when it was first introduced to public. Offered in three distinct versions, the 'Sport' is the one closest to the essence of AMG, as it was developed together with engineers from Affalterbach. But hold still, because there is more to come as the future A 25 AMG is unleashed during 2012. This rocket baby Benz boasts a complete list of high-end technical achievements to frighten the competition.
Under the hood, you'll find a brand new 2.0-litre 4-cylinder engine featuring Hyprex supercharging and F1-inspired technology courtesy of Mercedes AMG High Performance Powertrains from Brixworth, United Kingdom. With the help of this new creation, Mercedes-AMG makes a clear statement: offer the most powerful sports hatchback on the market. According to internal sources, the unit will crank out no less than 350 hp. This is indeed a huge amount of power given the size of the A-Class, but to ensure more safety as well as superior dynamics, a new all-wheel-power platform is specially developed at the moment for the forthcoming A 25 AMG. Power will be sent to the four wheels via a 7-speed AMG MCT SPEEDSHIFT gearbox, whereas further appointments, including the 3-stage ESP and the AMG RIDE CONTROL, will complete the potency package of this 'wheeled bomb'.
We expect the new A 25 AMG to be priced at around 40,000 - 50,000 euros for the European market, with the start of sales programmed for the end of 2012. The car will also be available for purchase in the USA, but only beginning with spring/summer 2013.
