R.I.P. Maybach - 2002 to 2012

Don't Copy From This Blog...

Not much to say. Sadly, sooner or later, it would have happened. This outcome could not have been avoided, after the talks between Daimler AG and Aston Martin collapsed in September 2011 and the confirmation of the plans for a future uber-premium S-Class to replace Maybach came in February 2012 from Stuttgart executives. After a short and tormented lifecycle, during which the brand struggled to survive with sluggish sales and poor recognition in the automotive industry, production of Maybach models at Sindelfingen came to a definitive stop in June 2012, earlier than planned. In 2011, just 46 units were sold in Europe, according to market researchers JATO Dynamics, and this year the situation didn't get any better.

We feel very sorry and hope that the S-Class will prove to be a highly suitable and more profitable alternative to Maybach. The old and revived and now put-to-sleep elitist company shall now remain just a bitter sweet memory for all.
